COLLEGE APPLICATION RESOURCES

The Common Application (CommonApp.org)

Over 600 US Colleges and Universities accept this one common application. Wouldn’t it be nice to just go to one site to manage all of your college admissions? Unfortunately, every school doesn’t use this option, but with 600 that do, I would suggest checking it out!

The Black College Common App (commonblackcollegeapp.com)

Over 45 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) have opted in to allow students to complete this one application for just the one $35 fee.  This is not only a time saver but it allows you to apply to over 40 schools for less than $1 each!

Universal College Application (universalcollegeapp.com)

Over 40 public, small private and Ivy League school accept the
Universal Application.

FOR STUDENT ATHLETES

NCAA Eligibility Center (ncaa.org)

Student athletes should become familiar with this site early on in their high school career.  There are very specific academic requirements that students should be aware of if they are considering an athletic scholarship in college and this is the site to learn it all! You can also view your high schools eligibility for NCAA courses.

BeRecruited (BeRecruited.com)

An athletic website for students to post their profiles and potentially be recruited by coaching staff. The site self-reports itself as being accessed by tens of thousands of college coaches.  Exposure is always great when you are seeking college scholarship options, so I say check it out!

FINANCIAL AID RESOURCES

FAFSA ID (studentaid.ed.gov)

Students, parents, and borrowers are required to use an FSA ID, made up of a username and password, to access certain U.S. Department of Education websites. Your FSA ID is used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents. (This is equivalent to the old “pin” that was previously required)

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is getting more and more user friendly. Any family that is seeking federal aid for college will need to first apply for the FAFSA ID (linked above) and then complete the FAFSA application.  Changes Ahead: For students attending college the Fall of 2017, the application will become available earlier and it will use tax filings from two years prior.
CSS Profile Application
Some schools require this specific Application for Federal Aid. You will want to research the financial aid application requirements for the schools you are interested in attending so that you do not miss the deadline of this application.

TESTING RESOURCES

This is where you will go to register for the SAT and SAT Subject tests. You can find helpful information on the PSAT and Advanced Placement (AP) exams as well.  This is also a great resource for researching college information! You will want to create your profile and keep your username and password in a safe place so that when it’s time to view your test scores or send them off to colleges and scholarship programs you will be able to do so right away!

ACT (www.actstudent.org)

The website to register for your ACT admissions test.  Again save your username and password for ease when it’s time to send your scores out!

FairTest Schools (Fairtest.org)

Did you know that more and more schools are moving to being “test-optional” schools.  Use this site to find great schools that focus on other aspects (outside of test scores) to determine your admission to their schools!
